Description

Inspired by the MFIT exhibition Fashion Unraveled and organized by MFIT and the Fashion Research Network, this one-day colloquium explored the concepts of memory, wear, and imperfection in fashion. Speakers focused on imperfect garments and the significance of dressing as a habitual, intimate, and ephemeral act.

Michelle McVicker is the collections and education assistant at The Museum at FIT. She previously worked as a collections management assistant at The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was also a Smithsonian Cultural Heritage Fellow at The National Museum of American History, the Lenore G. Tawney Foundation Fellow at The Fabric Workshop and Museum, and a collections management intern at the Chicago History Museum. She received her Fashion Studies MA at Parsons School of Design.
