Description
Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.
Transition of Style is a podcast that explores the ways in which personal style and queer identity meet. Hosted by Corinne Phillips, the podcast is at once personal and informative, and packs an emotional punch.
Seen as the classic All-American girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes, Elliott Sailors started her modeling career by first shooting with Bruce Weber - going on to work with those such as Peter Beard and Ellen Von Unwerth. Her face has been featured in Times Square more than once, most recently for H&M. Since Elliott chose to cut the long locks and begin modeling menswear, her androgyny, and commitment to people being true to themselves gained international notoriety- including appearances on The Today Show, The View, Access Hollywood, CNN, BBC and many more worldwide. On the runways you have seen her walking for the likes of Milly, Chromat, Diesel, Rick Owens and opening Vivienne Westwood menswear in Milan. Fall 2017 saw Elliott in VOGUE, ELLE and on billboards in the MILLY Campaign #EqualityForAll. In 2016, Out Magazine payed tribute to Elliott in honoring her as one of the years distinguished OUT100. A strong voice and role model - Elliott speaks at schools and conferences, in the US and UK, on making healthy choices, self-esteem, combating peer pressure, creating a powerful future, leadership and activism in LGBTQ rights, feminism and the rights of humanity. Elliott is also a personal coach, empowering individuals in discovering their most powerful voice and living a life of full blown self-expression, passionately and consistently go after what matters most them! Since childhood, Elliott has performed in Musical Theater, going on to study Vocal Performance in University and acting at T. Schreiber Studio for Film & Theater in New York City. In the UK, playing a character who is yet discovering the fluidity of both their gender and sexuality, Elliott's ability to be both very masculine and extremely feminine is astoundingly impressive in web series, Spectrum London. She has most recently been cast as the lead in DUSK, a film by trans-writer and director, Jake Graf. Both Spectrum and Dusk have been winning multiple awards in international film festivals. Dusk can be seen on United Airlines flights as a selection curated by the Tribeca Film Festival. Elliott has joined the Beauty for Freedom movement in becoming an ambassador for human rights in fighting human trafficking on a global scale. She worked with photographer Alexi Lubomirski in supporting Concern Worldwide, through the sales of Diverse Beauty - to celebrate beauty in fashion, with no boundaries or limitations, and to put every type of beauty on a pedestal. She also participated in the All Woman Project, representing those who identify as any version of a woman at any time in their lives.
Corinne Phillips host of podcast Transition of Style and co-Founder of QueerCut, a global, gender-free marketplace and online community. She started her career in music management serving such artists as Mariah Carey, Kings of Leon and Damien Rice before moving on to a long career in technology where she frequently participated on panels focused on increasing the visibility and voice of women in technology.
