Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.

Jeriana San Juan is an Emmy and CDGA nominated costume designer with a career spanning Television, Film, Broadway musicals, Concert tours, and Dance. Variety's "Artisans up next" report has listed Ms. San Juan as a rising costume design star and Vogue has named her a leading talent in Costume Design.

Her credit highlights include the HALSTON Miniseries for Netflix where Ms. San Juan's costume design is central to a story spanning 4 decades of the famous fashion designer's life and career, starring Ewan McGregor.

In Baz Luhrmann's THE GET DOWN, Ms. San Juan created vibrant costumes illustrating a 1970's New York from early hip hop style to the glamour of Disco. Ms. San Juan received praise for having interpreted the period fashion for the screen with a vivid freshness and was cited as having influenced collections from many fashion designers including Givenchy as a result.

Other Career highlights include HBO's THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA, a six-part miniseries starring Zoe Kazan, Winona Ryder and John Turturro about an alternate history of 1940's WWII America. USA's hit anthology crime drama THE SINNER, starring Bill Pullman and Carrie Coon, and DAMNATION, a drama set in the 1930's about the bloody industrialization of America's hard working heartland.

For the FX series SEX & DRUGS & ROCK & ROLL starring Denis Leary, Ms. San Juan created outrageous costumes for a 1980's rock and roll band hoping to make a comeback.

Ms. San Juan's early career included the acclaimed NBC series SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (Sn 32 -38) during the tenor of cast members Tina Fey, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, and Kristen Wiig, and assistant designing the Tony award winning, Legally Blonde, The Musical.

Ms. San Juan's work and commentary has been published in the New York Times, Vogue, Marie Claire, and Vanity Fair among others, and is a recipient of the National Accessories council's 2017 ACE award as style influencer of the year.

Learning dressmaking at an early age from her grandmother, Ms. San Juan cites her roots and upbringing as a first generation Cuban -American as a key inspiration in her life and career. As a young child she was trained in dressmaking by creating patterns out of newspaper and repurposing household textiles for materials. It was with this early introduction into design that taught Ms. San Juan that with ingenuity and style anything is possible.
