Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.

Learn more about working in Asia, from Shanghai to Singapore to Hanoi. Two Cultural Fellows will join us and we will conclude with a keynote interview with Kate Sullivan, General Merchandise Manager, Nike.

Kate has worked within merchandising for 18 years across multiple American brands including; Ralph Lauren, JCrew, Walmart and now Nike. Focus being on retail and wholesale as well as developing product. Kate worked in NYC for 13 years and then moved out to Portland, Oregon for Nike back in 2016. After spending three years working for the North America business at Nike she was offered a role in Shanghai, China leading the merchandising teams for all of Greater China inclusive of Digital, Stores and Wholesale. The Chinese consumer is the future of how we interact in retail and leading the digital marketplace. With everything connected to your phone; ranging from super apps, daily transactions and social it is truly changing the way retail will look in the future. Kate led the team thru the first marketplace affected with Covid-19 and helped bring growth for the year utilizing the digital dominance while stores were being closed. She is also leading the team thru the first connected marketplace across retail and wholesale furthering how the future of Nike will look with putting the consumer at the core. What Kate is most passionate about is leading a team thru change, coaching the future generations of merchants and being a mentor to future female leaders in the industry.
