Please join us for a virtual talk about traditional and modern textiles in South Africa.
Elizabeth Way is curator of Costume and Accessories at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where her recent exhibitions include Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style (2023), Food & Fashion (2023), and Africa’s Fashion Diaspora (2024).
Lorenza Wong is an adjunct professor in Textiles Development and Marketing, and leader in fashion and apparel with 30 years of experience. She is bringing a group of FIT students to South Africa in June 2025, TS275: Farm to Fabric: South Africa.
Bupe Mucheka is an international student from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Lusaka, Zambia. Her major is Advertising and Marketing Communications AAS ‘24. On campus she is a Cultural Fellow, an orientation leader, resident assistant, and a student tour guide, and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Black Student Union.
Frances van Hasselt is a designer and entrepreneur focusing on mohair textiles based in South Africa.
