Faces and Places in Fashion: Michael Kaplan

Description

Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.
Michael Kaplan describes how his large-size women's fashion retailing venture was successful because of careful marketing studies. Their firm, Fashion to Figure, offers over 75 brands of sizes 14-26. The brothers are grandchildren of the founders of the Lane Bryant stores, which also offered fashions to 12+ shoppers, and they contrast the earlier retailing concern with the narrower focus and broader plus-size offerings of Fashion to Figure.
