Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.
Dimitra Williams is a gradutate of FIT with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design. At FIT she specialized in knitwear and has continued to work in knits throughout her career. With experience at Opening Ceremony, Kim Haller and Brooks Brothers, Dimitra is currently spending her days at Helmut Lang as an associate designer. In March 2020, Dimitra founded MIITRA. She created MIITRA as a way to utilize the themes, individuals and experiences that fed her personal creativity andartistry. MIITRA is her way of amplifying the positive representation of the Black community in the luxury design space. To quote Miitra’s brand guide: “At MIITRA, our purpose is simple: to empower your spirit through thoughtfully designed pieces and to promote strength, confidence and self-love with every product we offer. We create investment pieces at an attainable price point with timeless appeal because everyone deserves to wear their values with pride. Our aesthetic is clean, modern and minimal so our statement messages of positivity and hope always remain the focus.”
