Faces and Places in Fashion: Bijou Abiola

Description

Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.
Economist turned merchant turned data strategist. Over the past 10+ years, Bijou has had the opportunity to evolve her career through an unconventional path. Each path has held a common passion - a desire to understand and shape consumer behavior.
As the lead merchant for brands like Chanel, Dior, YSL, Ralph Lauren and DVF, Bijou’s collective experience across luxury apparel and beauty produced a differentiation strategy that delivered over $220M in sales.
After attending Harvard Business school in 2019, Bijou’s focus expanded into developing enterprise wide corporate strategies. In her newly created role within the L’Oréal Luxe digital division, she leverages her love for data to drive a consumer first marketing approach across the L’Oréal suite of brands.
Outside of work, she dedicates time speaking at engagements focused on empowering women and young professionals of color.
