Fatima Faizi has been a reporter for The New York Times in Afghanistan since 2017. Born and raised in war, she learned English during her first job as a reporter and photographer with Al Jazeera. She was recently evacuated from Kabul. Souzeina Mushtaq is an Assistant Professor (Visiting), Communication and Media Studies, University of Wisconsin, River Falls.
The Department of Social Sciences’ World Affairs Lecture Series fulfills FIT’s mission to foster an understanding of diverse cultures and politics within the international as well as domestic perspectives. It also embraces, supports, and expands upon the president’s campus-wide initiative on civility.
This lecture is presented in partnership with the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Presidential Scholars Program, and the Office of International Programs.
