Laurent Cotta and Dr. Valerie Steele in conversation at The Museum at FIT's 16th fashion symposium, Proust’s Muse, held on Thursday, October 20, 2016. The day-long symposium was organized in conjunction with the exhibition Proust's Muse, The Countess Greffulhe. Researchers from the United States and Europe discussed the connections between fashion, patronage, literature, and the arts in turn of the century France.
Laurent Cotta is head of graphic arts at the Palais Galliera. He worked with Olivier Saillard on La Mode retrouvée: Les robes trésors de la comtesse Greffulhe. Dr. Valerie Steele is director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT. She has organized more than twenty exhibitions, including "Gothic: Dark Glamour" and "Fashion Underground: The World of Susanne Bartsch".
