Fashion Culture: Straight/Curve Film Discussion

Description

On April 10, 2018, MFIT hosted a screening of Straight/Curve, an exciting new documentary that examines the body image crisis. Ninety percent of women and young girls say that they feel unrepresented in the fashion industry and that the imagery they consume daily makes them feel "disgusting" and "less than." The film showcased fashion leaders who are fighting for more diversity of size, race, and age. After the screening, director Jenny McQuaile and Meredith Rollins, editor in chief of Redbook magazine, discussed topics addressed in Straight/Curve.
The Museum at FIT (MFIT) is the only museum dedicated exclusively to the art of fashion in New York City.
